The first ever international Pacific Rim Jane Austen meeting on March 13, 2021, was a great success, with particpants from the Jane Austen Society of New Zealand, the Hawai`i Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America, and many mainland JASNA members.

Celebrated journalist and author Deborah Yaffe spoke and took questions on her book "Among the Janeites." JASNA National President Liz Cooper addressed the meeting and JAS-NZ President Frances Duncan spoke briefly in the Maori language.

JAS-NZ and JASNA Hawai`i will be carrying their partnership forward into the future, demonstrating that Jane Austen unites everyone, everywhere.

JASNA Hawai`i will next meet at 2 PM HST on Saturday, May 22. Our topic is "Bring Your Own P&P Knockoff" and we'll be discussing our favorite P&P sequels and variants. The meeting is open to all JASNA and JAS-NZ members. Seating is quite limited so contact us early for details.

Jane Austen Society on Zoom

Joined by guests from California and Texas, JASNA Hawai`i met on October 17, 2020 (via Zoom), to talk about Natalie Jenner's breakout novel, The Jane Austen Society. The discussion was led by local member Cheryl, who challenged us with a fascinating (and difficult!) quiz on the characters in the novel. A wide-ranging and interesting discussion followed.

Our next meeting will also be on Zoom, on January 16, 2021, at 1 PM HST. We plan to discuss Jo Baker's Longbourn. Local members will receive further information through the mailing list. JASNA members from other regions are always welcome to join in, up to our capacity limit. Contact us at jasnahawaii@jasnahawaii.org.

JASNA Hawaii's next virtual meeting will be on Saturday, October 17, at 1 PM HST. We'll discuss Natalie Jenner's The Jane Austen Society.

Our discussions are very informal. We don't have a speaker or presenter; instead the discussion leader guides the discussion with a series of questions and things to think about.

Up to our capacity limit, the meeting is open to any JASNA member from any region. If you would like to join in, please email us, mentioning your JASNA region or affiliation, and we'll send you meeting details just ahead of the meeting date.
