Bungerting Baloner, the name we've chosen for our Editor's Blog, may perhaps be a bit unusual to some of our visitors. Although Bungert is a German surname, and the word baloner exists in French, Hungarian, and probably some other languages, these facts give no clue at all to the meaning of our blog title.

Bungerting, in fact, is an invented word, deriving, as expected, from the root bungert. A bungert is someone who is not being nice or polite, as in the phrase, "Don't be such a bungert!" By extension, then, bungerting means to act in some way that is not useful or perhaps even bad, though certainly short of malicious, as in the phrase, "Stop bungerting around!"

What, then, about baloner? This word is an extension of the noun baloney (or bologna if you really must, but then the derivation fails). A baloner is someone who spouts baloney, as in the common expression "full of baloney," extensible to "you're such a baloner."

Combining the words, then, a Bungerting Baloner is someone who is not only full of baloney but also goes around doing things that are not especially useful or productive, and at times downright annoying.

All that notwithstanding, be sure to read the blog, with a new article published each Sunday. A wide variety of topics and interests are covered.
