How to Get the Martin Fierz 8-Piece Endgame Database

Martin has put his database online for download and that is the preferred method by far for obtaining the database.

Do NOT order from us unless you are COMPLETELY unable to download the database!

We don't make any profit on this and downloading from Martin's site saves you time and money, and saves us a lot of work.

However, if and only if you can't download it, the Martin Fierz 8-piece endgame database is available at our cost of duplication and shipping.

When your order arrives, check the README file on the first CD for vital installation instructions.

Important legal disclaimers and instructions follow. These may sound unfriendly but in today's sue-everybody world, we need to be clear about what we promise and don't promise. Please read before ordering.

  1. You are NOT paying for the database. The database is FREE. You are paying for the cost of duplication and shipping.  Please DOWNLOAD the database from Martin's site if you possibly can!
  2. No support is provided by us. Please don't ask, we simply don't have spare time.
  3. No support is provided by the program author. Please don't take up his time either.
  4. No warranty of any type, whether express or implied, is given. We have successfully tested in our own environment on Windows 98 SE and Windows XP SP1, with Cake Manchester and KingsRow under CheckerBoard. Successful functioning in your environment is not assured or guaranteed; you take on all risk in this regard; no refunds will be given.
  5. No liabilities are assumed, of any type whatsoever, for anything whatsoever, for any damages or potential damages whatsoever, arising out of the use, lack of availabilty, malfunction, or anything else attributable to the programs, their duplication, and shipping; even if we have been made aware of the possibility of damages, we are not responsible. You must evaluate the usability, safety, functionality and desirablity of the programs on your own.
  6. No refunds and no returns for any reason whatsoever, except for proven defective CDs, which will be replaced once only if returned postpaid to us and found to be truly defective by us. Our judgment is final. If the database doesn't work in your environment or you don't like it, you have our sympathy but won't get a refund.
  7. Please allow several weeks for delivery. It takes us a while to burn each set of disks, and then there's packaging and going to the post office to send them out. We don't have very much spare time and we do this as we can fit it in, not as a top-priority item. In addition, media mail can take a little while to arrive within the continential US, and very much longer to Alaska or especially Hawai`i, where transit times are always well over a month. International airmail depends on the destination and can be hard to predict.
  8. For international orders, customs delays are not our responsibility, and you are responsible for clearance, and any duties, taxes, etc. are paid by you.

The database requires a minimum of 4 GB free hard drive space.

We offer the database at our cost of duplication and shipping, which is a total of $10 for shipment in the USA. This is a few dollars above the cost of blank disks and postage, but we had to buy a lot of extra stuff in order to set up to copy disks and take orders, so we're trying to recover at least a part of that $200 expense. If you think $10 is too much for a set of 4 CDs, delivered to your door, well... what can we say. You probably don't really want the database.

Payment by Paypal is preferred by far. Money order, certified check, or at your own risk, cash, are also accepted. Personal checks are not accepted, don't ask. US dollars only, please, in a form that our bank will not charge us a fee to accept.
